1. The MOGA Privacy Promise

At Make Our Government Accountable (MOGA), we believe that participating in democracy should never cost you your privacy. Our platform is engineered around the principle of the “digital secret ballot.” We exist to amplify your voice to your elected officials, not to harvest, sell, or weaponize your personal data. This policy explains how we mathematically decouple your identity from your voting record to ensure total anonymity.

2. The Information We Collect

To ensure our platform reflects the true sentiment of actual constituents (and blocks bots, foreign actors, and out-of-district activists), we collect the following limited information:

Identity Verification Data: Your legal first and last name, date of birth, email address, physical residential address, and phone number (if opting into SMS alerts).

Platform Engagement Data: Your “Support” or “Oppose” votes on specific legislation, and your preferences for receiving our mobilization alerts.

Technical Security Data: Anonymized behavioral metrics (such as pointer trajectory and click cadence) processed strictly in real-time to verify human interaction and block automated bot networks.

3. How We Verify Your Identity (Without Storing It)

We enforce a strict “one person, one address, one vote” standard using military-grade Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) protocols. When you submit your Identity Verification Data, we do not ask for or store photos of your driver’s license, passport, or Social Security Number.

Instead, your data is securely transmitted via an encrypted Application Programming Interface (API) to our authoritative public records partner. The system performs a programmatic check against multi-sourced utility and civic databases to return a simple “Yes/No” confirmation that you actively reside at the provided address. Upon successful validation, your account receives a “Verified Voter” status tied strictly to your mapped congressional district.

eKYC Partner Obligations: Our eKYC API partners are contractually prohibited from logging, retaining, or using your identity data for any purpose, including model training or the creation of derived datasets. They process your data only to perform real-time verification and must delete residual data immediately upon transaction completion.

Technical Retention Window & Purge Pipeline: Raw identity fields used solely for real-time verification are purged from our active verification pipeline within 24 hours of district mapping confirmation to eliminate long-term data retention liabilities.

4. Cryptographic Anonymity: The Digital Secret Ballot

We utilize a decoupled database architecture to ensure your personal identity is never stored alongside your voting record. Upon successful identity verification, our system generates an irreversible, one-way cryptographic hash (using the SHA-256 standard) combined with dynamic, hardware-isolated server salts to create a temporary “Voter Token.” When you cast a vote on a bill, only this anonymous Voter Token, your stance (Yea, Nay, or Abstain), and your congressional district (e.g., NC-03) are recorded in the ledger. It is mathematically impossible to reverse-engineer this hash to connect a specific vote back to your legal name.

5. How We Use Your Data & Mobilization Alerts

We use your data strictly to facilitate civic engagement:

  • To aggregate real-time, district-level sentiment on active legislation.
  • To generate automated, time-sensitive 24-hour floor alerts regarding upcoming votes in your jurisdiction.
  • To compile recurring legislative digests for you to forward to your representatives.

SMS Communications Disclosure (TCPA): Mobile phone numbers provided for mobilization alerts will receive text notifications regarding urgent legislative votes. SMS opt-in is explicit and optional. Message and data rates may apply depending on your cellular provider. You may opt-out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message or updating your account notification settings.

6. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, political campaigns, or third-party marketers.

Elected Officials: We transmit only aggregated, anonymized vote tallies (e.g., “82% of verified MOGA voters in District 3 oppose this bill”) directly to legislative staff.

Service Providers: We share necessary data with secure infrastructure partners (such as database hosts, authentication systems, and communications services) strictly to operate the platform under strict confidentiality terms.

7. Security Protocols

We protect our infrastructure using database-enforced Row-Level Security (RLS), HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, and real-time behavioral bot-shields. These controls structurally block cross-account data harvesting, illicit scraping, and automated manipulation of the voting ledger.

8. Your Rights & State Privacy Laws (CCPA/CPRA)

Depending on your U.S. state of residence (including California, Virginia, Colorado, and others), you possess specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know & Access: Request details on the specific pieces of personal data collected, processing purposes, and third-party recipients.
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal profile data.
  • Right to Delete: Request full account deletion. Credential fields will be removed immediately. Because public vote ledgers store only dynamic SHA-256 Voter Tokens, historical vote tallies remain permanently anonymized and detached from your identity.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: MOGA does not sell or share personal information or sensitive personal identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under state privacy statutes.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Authorized Agents: You may designate an authorized agent to submit privacy requests on your behalf by providing written verification of authorization.

9. Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA)

MOGA is designed exclusively for individuals eligible to register to vote (typically individuals aged 17 and older eligible for voter pre-registration). We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will promptly delete that information from our systems.
